Well, I was supposed to be driving to AZ during the dances tonight, but I decided to leave on Thursday morning at 4:00am instead so that I could watch DANCE! Ok, in actuality... Sho couldn't get off early enough for us to leave tonight, and I can't stay up late enough to wait for Teri to post, so I'm going to give my input and who I think is going all in one big bang.
Courtney and Will: Samba - I really liked this dance, but I think for most of it Will was making Courtney look good because he was awesome. I know some of you out there don't really like him, but he is so on with his moves...the hip hoppers can not move like that!
Comfort: Not much different than her other dances over the past several weeks.
Katee and Twitch: Contemp - How did they know each other before coming to the show? I'm confused...In addition, did anyone else notice that the first give minutes (it seemed) of the dance was just them making out with no dancing. I definitely felt like they were fighting, which was the point they were trying to give, but I was getting a DV vibe...I agree with Nigel that it was a great performance, but not much dancing.
Will: I think it was very smart for him to dress up that way, so that he is memorable. The dancing was not that great, but I will remember the character.
Comfort and Mark: Hip hop - Why is it that Comfort always gets hip hop? I don't think this was the best hip hop routine, but it was fun and I really like quirky Mark. Do I think he is the best dancer? No. But he's pretty fun. Again, I agree with Nigel...Comfort does not know how to choreograph herself.
Katee: She was good, but at certain points it almost looked like she second guessed herself, or like she messed up...maybe that's what she wanted us to think...you never know with contemporary.
Chelsea and Josh: Argentine Tango - As much as I like Josh...I just didn't feel like his feet were on tonight. Chelsea's legs were crazy and all over the place...for a short girl she sure makes those legs look long!
Mark: Knowing that Mark is the only son in a family full of girls explains A LOT about him! His dance was ok...lots of jumping.
Courtney and Will: hip hop - I don't really know what to say about this one...it was a smooth hip hop, not really hard hitting at all. And it seemed more like contemporary to me...so maybe it was and I just missed that part.
Chelsea: As much as I love Chelsea, all she ever does on her solos is to twist her hips back and forth over and over again...I guess it's hard for a ballroom dancer to dance by herself, but she needs to do something different.
Twitch and Katee: Broadway - They keep getting the routines with a story, which I think is good for them. It was a fun routine, as always.
Josh: I have concerns about any man who can do the splits...and I was not overly impressed with his dancing...
Courtney: She looked pretty beautiful and graceful.
Twitch: He really knows how to play up the audience, and his T-shirt is definitely getting him some fans.
Comfort and Mark: Foxtrot - When I heard they were doing the foxtrot, I was afraid...very afraid. But it wasn't terrible!
Chelsea and Josh: Disco - After Josh was spinning I couldn't tell if he accidentally fell or not. These were the best disco outfits so far, that's for sure! Chelsea again is great, but this is really not Josh's niche. But he tried really hard. And the lifts really were incredible.
This was a hard week for me. I know who really should go home, but you never know what America is going to do. My votes for this week are as follows:
Bottom four:
Comfort
Courtney
Mark
Twitch

Ok, I’m a little less relaxed than usual, so I may have enjoyed this show more a few weeks ago, but I didn’t hate it. But dang, knock off that damn twisted arm on your shoulder stupid thing, it looks so stupid!
Hey Mickey you’re so old, you’re so old, but haven’t changed Hey Mickey! She had Kind of boring commentary with some worthwhile opinions thrown in now and again.
Will and Courtney. Samba, pretty decent showing in all honesty. I do think the judges are still evil and are lying through their teeth frequently. They will rip on whatever Mark does but totally let Will off the hook. There were times when he was so upright and proper he looked ready to do the Waltz. The move Jean Marc was using really disturbing imagery to help teach is called a samba roll… yes ROLL being the operative word here. Will turned it into some weird forward and then back and then forward step, it’s supposed to roll in a circle.
Fun number
Comfort solo: I expected her to do the same thing as always, but she changed it up I thought. Now, it still lacked a little, but it was a different take….
Twitch and Katee, Contemporary. I was so excited when they said Mia choreographed, but I didn’t love it. It was a cool concept with some fun moments. I thought Katee looked very choreographed and unnatural. I think the biggest problem being that Twitch isn’t much of a dancer. He was frequently standing and waiting for the next step, or catch or lift. It didn’t feel ORGANIC to quote Mickey. Disturbing Kiss by the way!
Will: Stupid wig, not a lot of artistic merit in impersonating someone else. Maybe Mark should do an Elvis impersonation?
Mark and Comfort Hip Hop. Fun number. Mark did better than I expected and they had to congratulate him, I’m sure they hated doing it. Mark still felt a little contemporary instead of street though.
Katee solo, fine I guess, it felt like something was wrong
Josh and Chelsea Argentine Tango. I mainly thought the music didn’t help their cause, but the dancing was great.
Mark: Ok, I cussed in my commentary because the boy must be trying to get kicked off, be quirky, but at least dance!
Courtney and Will, slow Hip Hop: Well it certainly wasn’t “historical” it was barely memorable. It was fine. But apparently the judges had to grovel in admiration, I yawned, that’s as moved as I was.
Chelsie, Happy B-Day: Fine, we know you’re a ballroom/Latin dancer… there are mor than two steps at your disposal
Katee and Twitch Broadway: You know I hate cute. But thank you Mickey for giving a worthwhile comment, no Katee didn’t have the personality of the dance at all…. I don’t know what I meant, but I wrote down during the number “it feels surfacey” whatever that means
Josh… um Josh, the music started, um Josh you have a limited time, um Josh…start doing something… um Josh, congrats on the 15 minute drop into the split your time is up… not a great solo for me
Courtney, fine solo, I barely remember what she did other than what she always does… but hey no fall into one leg bent for the first time
Twitch solo, boring
Comfort and Mark foxtrot… I’m so sad everyone is hating on the foxtrot, it’s such a great dance, when danced by… well anybody besides Mark and Comfort. There were a lot of spins and didn’t anyone else notice that the big lift they spoke of in the pre-film was not in the routine? Bad editing choice.
Chelsie and Josh: It’s hard to love disco… it was fine, some cool lifts, Josh looked like he was going to fall over most of the time.
OK, going home, Comfort and Mark
I had to think about the rest of the bottom… I think Twitch for sure. I think Courtney is the best dancer, but she had the samba, which was fun, but the slow hip hop is going to hurt her enough to get in the bottom.
Was that confusing, sorry.
