Japaneese Wipeout and the Outsiders

Last week I was kind of excited to find out that Dateline was doing a series on Amish youth as they made a decision to either stay Amish or to join the "English world". It sounded like it was going to be a series and that they were going to follow these youth for a while. Sadly, I misunderstood. It's actually as series called "The Outsiders" and it talks about minorities in our society. Once I found out what the show really was about I wasn't going to watch, but last night was slightly disturbing. Adults who feel they want a baby to care for--a baby who won't get older and leave them (usually empty nesters)--adopt monkeys (Capuchin monkeys) and raise them as surrogate children (their words, not mine). It was so weird. Really. You can catch a snippet here if you want.

Tuesday TV is just WEIRD all the way around. There's Celebrity Family Feud, I Survived a Japanese Game show, and Wipeout. I am not sure what is more disturbing: the weird tenants of Tuesday TV or the fact that I am watching these shows! Anyone else? Or all you all busy visiting family and playing in the water and helping your husbands overcome the sadness of life moving on?

I had no idea that Japanese Game show was a team and vote off style. I am not sure how I feel about that, because although I got sucked into the drama in one week (ohh! can they really sneak up on Donelle and get him voted off?) I enjoyed the funny Japanese voices saying "Sticky Suit" and "Panda Attack" much more than the talking heads of who was bothering who. Less cocky Americans, more funny Japanese... please!
