American Idol---Week 1---the singing

What the crap?  Yep, that's how I am starting it all...What the crap?  And then Michael Jackson!

So, as I said in the previous post of the rules...the points are awarded a certain way...but often the producers screw things up by...well, sending home 2 the first week...SOOOOO....In your prevote, whoever you said was going home weeks 1 and 2...will be for week 1...we'll discuss the voting for tonight later...

On to the show:

1-Lil: She has a very powerful voice...I like powerful voices on this show.  (on a side note...they were talking this morning on the today show about feathers being big this season...guess Paula was watching).  Lil is a great singer...if this show was a singing show...she should go far...we'll see if America agrees.  I agree with Simon on the outfit...those pants are BAD!!!

2-Scott: (I was kinda hoping the "glam squad" would do something with his hair).  Scott is a very likable guy...but I don't think he is that great of a singer.  I heard a lot of bad notes...but maybe my ears aren't the best...D wants to know if this is an MJ song.

(I don't like that they are rotating who starts off talking with the judges...Randy is ALWAYS supposed to start..and does anybody else watch Paula's face while Kara talks...kinda funny.)

3-Danny: (Man he bugs...and no mention of his wife...interesting) Wow...is he rockin' out...and my "wow" is not necessarily a good "wow".  A little over the top...as Paula tells him to take it all in.  His dance moves were not so great...Did Paula just tell him he's on his way to the finals???  Not according to my pre-vote.  I hope America takes the "not a singing competition" route with him... he just bugs me!

(3 contestants in and I want to punch Kara...)

4-Michael: (this is probably my fav MJ song). I'm surprised by his singing tonight....I like him as a person...and thought he did a good job.  Simon is stealing my words...he isn't the best singer...but a truly likable guy...and he did sing with passion!  Although Randy, I heard more country...Kara...shut it!

5-Jasmine: A few times...she almost sounded like 5 year-old Michael.  Okay...she is a good singer...but her big notes...aren't clear (do you know what I am talking about?)  When Kelly or Carrie belt out a note...it is just so clear and beautiful...her big notes have a weird sound to it...please some one else tell me you heard it.  (What up with Paula tonight...actually pointing out some faults).  Funny how Kara says she has great stage present and Simon says she was a bit robotic...

6-Kris (Janet...I hope he gives you chills tonight)  Married 5 months...well, that's a fun first year of marriage.  Okay....I really am liking this guy...really!  I think he has a fabulous voice (no chills for me Janet...but almost).  What a fun personality we got to see!  He seems like a real fun guy...great performance!  D wants me to point that Paula thinks he is "adorably sexy"...but she thinks that about most of the young guys.  (Why is everybody weirding out about the wife comment...Simon just means that more girls are gonna call for you if they think you are single).

7-Allison: Rocker chick...I'm liking it! Now that is a strong voice! I think I like this girl...I am glad I put her to the end on my pre-vote...she is fantastic.  (let's leave the "cutting" comments off AI).

8-Anoop: From Bobby Brown to MJ...Yep, folks he just threw the mic stand...Okay...even I am thinking this could be heard at the local karaoke bar...and it's not getting any better.  Really not getting better....kinda wanting it to end.  See...I agree with Paula for once...she stole my Karaoke.

9-Jorge: He's trying to look like MJ with the pushed up sleeves...not a good look.  I will give him this much...he has a strong voice.  And his accent is not there...except when he says "no no no, no no no, no no noooooo". How can Randy say it wasn't challenging enough...and Simon said it was "out of his depth"...I'm so confused.

10-Megan: (sweet hair brother...CJ should get a hair cut for his 21st b-day).  Guess she has to sing songs where she can do her little twist thing).  Her voice is stronger tonight.  The only problem...they always tell her that she is current...this song...not current!  No...she didn't just caw at the end...what the crap? I have to agree with Simon...and whatever Gordon Ramsey said...I love all the english men that have invaded my tv.

11-Adam: He is a little to0 dark for a San Diego kid, in my opinion.  Just to let you all know...I don't like this guy...especially his look.  And now he is going to destroy one of my fav songs.   I can't understand what he is saying.  This performance is almost more painful then Anoops...okay, just got more painful...who does he thinks he is? Will Simon use the word indulgent? Before we get to Simon...someone ask Paula if she is listening to the same person I am.  Are you kidding me Simon?  I thought it was terrible...and I mean terrible...this is crazy...am I crazy???

12-Matt: D and I love this song...he totally looks like J Timberlake when he sings...but not as cute (yep...I think JT is cute...give me a break, I loved him on MMC).  His voice is not that strong and I'm pretty sure his notes weren't that spot on either...but I am liking him better then rocker freak Adam who I will be fuming about for days.  Judges? wow...Paula likes him.  And they brought up Adam again?  I am not even getting it!

13-Alexis: She needs some longer shorts and less pink hair. Another rocker chick?  Her and Allison may have to battle it out.  She has a strong voice as well!  I am liking this...just not her outfit.  How could they love Adam so much and think hers was just okay???  I'm still stunned about Adam's performances...Oops...if you tivo'd tonight's show it cut off before Alexis's random number got posted, so no votes for her!!!

Overall...I actually thought the singing tonight was good.  I have been concerned that this year was going to be a big flop 'cause I haven't been really that impressed with anyone...I'm glad to know that we have a fair amount of singers.  Another interesting point...I don't see a front runner right now...I can't say who I think will go very far (without guessing like in my pre-vote)...so it should be an interesting year.

What to do next?  Click on comments....leave your thoughts on the show...then put down your bottom 4 (yep 4) and the 2 that will go home...2 are going home.  I don't know if there will be a bottom 3 or 4...so pick 4 and if they only do 3, you have a better chance of earning points...Good luck...first week of points will be posted after tomorrow nights show!!!!  Make sure your picks are posted by 7pm Wednesday night!
