We still watch Last Comic Standing religiously, but it's been a busy week, so we just finally watched it yesterday...I was also very disappointed. I'll admit, I read part of AJ's blog before watching, so I wasn't shocked about no girls getting through, but I have to be honest with you...I was not impressed with these girls. Some of them used the same jokes as when they were trying out (which is a pet peeve of mine...if you can't come up with new material for the three minutes on the stage, how are you going to fill an hour or more?), and the rest had TERRIBLE delivery. The only one I would have put through (maybe) would have been Erin Jackson...she had a weird way of delivering the jokes, but was still pretty funny. I was upset in the end that the few people I actually laughed out loud for (which does not happen very often) didn't even get through. I just did not get Ron G...at all. If you would like to view a two-minute replay of the evening to see who got through to the next round, click on Last Comic Standing.
On the NBC website, several people are complaining about the selection this year. I LOVE that they have all sorts of different comedians rating them this season, but I am pretty sure those same comedians have no say in who gets through to the next round. I'm getting pretty annoyed with the politics of reality shows these days. Some of the comedians that they are letting through already have pretty successful careers in comedy...because they are at least on TV or in some movies. These "politicians" are not allowing the very funny no-name comedians to get through on LCS and, because of them, I have recently become dissillusioned with Beauty and the Geek. I was flipping through the channels the other day, and landed on an episode of Yes Dear (which is not a show that I have EVER watched, but I had to stop because of what I saw...), and there, on the screen, was the guy from last seasons "Beauty and the Geek"...the guy who was supposedly attractive and one of the beauties. So, I looked him up and, low and behold, he has been in several television shows, starting when he was 12 years old. For some reason, this really made me upset. He currently has a successful career in the popular media, and they are trying to give him a quarter of a million dollars? Aren't there other attractive men in the world that they could have used? Yes...there are. Luckily, I still believe that the politics are staying out of our other beloved shows, but it's only a matter of time...
