REAL TV...

I am currently watching the same reality shows as Teri (except the Bacholorette...really, Teri? You're still watching that?). However, in addition, I love Beauty and the Geek...unfortunately, I have not been able to watch Beauty and the Geek this season, because my DVR will only record two shows at a time, and there are too many shows on at the same time! The good news is that Beauty and the Geek is usually shown in reruns, and is also on the world wide web. I can not vouch for the current season (Season 5), but I really enjoyed seasons 2 and 3. Season 4 totally messed things up by bringing in a geeky girl and an "attractive" guy (who was not attractive at all, and was totally full of himself). The show was great because it showed all the geeky guys in the world that they simply need to learn a few inter-personal skills so that they were not so socially awkward around other people, and it showed all the girls who get by solely on their looks that they can't always get everything they want. Above, you will find CC...she and her partner almost won season 3, until her partner told everyone else not to vote for them because CC hadn't learned a thing from the experience and still felt like she can get whatever she wants from anyone because of how she looks. Frankly, I think she looks like an animal of some sort. I am very upset that they changed the format of the show...but what can I do? I'm not an executive producer. I read on Wiki today that they are going to stop the show after season 5 and bring it back in a few years when the premise will be "new" again. I don't think that has ever really worked...

Anyway, in addition to all of the lovely shows already mentioned, Dan and I have been watching some REAL TV on the History channel...specifically Ice Road Truckers! It is a Canadian, documentary style reality show that follows truck drivers as they drive over frozen water. The first episode of the first season began as follows:

"At the top of the world, there's an outpost like no other…and a job only a few would dare. The mission: To haul critical supplies across 350 miles of frozen lakes to Canada's remote billion-dollar diamond mines. The challenge: to transport 10,000 loads in 60 days—before the road disappears. The rewards are great; the risks even greater. These are the men who make their living on thin ice."

Chilling, isn't it? The current season started in June 2008 and is following some of the same truckers as they drive over frozen OCEAN...that's right, people...OCEAN! Although this show is a little WTP, it is incredible to watch these guys doing this job. I love real TV, as well as movies and books that are based on true stories...for some reason things are a little more creepy and exciting when I know they really happened to someone. Anyway, my favorite trucker's name is Hugh, and he even has his own web sight! I'm sure this show will not interest most of you, but there's not much else to watch on Sunday nights...so you might want to give it a try!
