I Survived a Japanese Game show and the Amish

I watched I Survived a Japanese Game Show-show last night because I thought it was going to be a documentary or something. It was on right after WIPEOUT and I thought maybe it was telling how executives stole the idea for Wipeout from the Japanese game shows. Imagine my surprise when I find this is a game show all on it's own. Did anyone else watch it? I have to say I am somewhat indifferent on it at this moment, but due to the lack of things to watch on Tuesdays, I went ahead and DVRed it (FYI:DVRed is now a word).

The premise is that a group of Americans went to LA to participate in a reality game show. But they didn't know WHAT reality game show they were going to be part of. They then flew to Japan and were on the set of a popular Japanese game show while still wondering what was up. They are competing in this show against one another and someone gets sent home each night.
The more I was thinking about this show, the more I had to give the creators of it props. Not only do they have a show to debut in the dead of summer TV time to US audiences, but they have a show for Japanese viewers as well. Apparently, Japanese folks like to watch stupid Americans make fools of themselves in silly challenges.

Moving right along...The Outsiders. Did anyone see this one? It's on ABC. Again, I thought it was going to be a documentary about the struggle Amish youth have trying to decide if they want to "stay Amish" or "join the English world". Again, I was surprised to find it is a series. It's going to follow these kids and discuss various aspects of their struggle for identity. I thought it was interesting. Anyone?

And because that was apparently not enough TV for one night, I also have to comment on Hell's Kitchen. Was anyone shocked to see Corey go? You have Petrozza with the knowledge and skill and experience (though very messy way about it) and Christina with a decidedly good pallet and drive to never forget this is a competition. Christina keeps winning challenges, but what about her consistency? Petrozza cries a lot...but I find it somewhat endearing. I really don't know which of the two will win and I think I am completely happy either way!

I also found a fun link to a reality TV site. I added it to the links on the side. It's probably been found already but there you go.

We talked about watching the japanese show, but my family only has the ability to record one show...and if you are watching tv, you have to watch what is recording...sucks...so I am pretty limited to my tv watching right now....but I will be checking out your suggestions when I get back to super dvr world..and yes I will be using DVRed...awesome!
